The federal government has taken delivery of a calibration aircraft worth $8.5m that will serve in the calibration of navigational aids across Nigerian airports.
The government through the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika Thursday evening took delivery of the said calibration aircraft worth $8.5m that will serve in the calibration of navigational aids across Nigerian airports.
Sirika, said the aim of this was relieving the agony of contracting it to South Africa at about $500,000 every six months is over.
According to him, the country’s airspace is safer as the old one used lasted for two decades, before the country never had one.
He said the purpose of this aircraft is to calibrate our equipment and aids in the country for the purpose of flight operations.
Sirika said what informed the government to procure the aircraft was that when it was reconstructing the Abuja airport runway, there was the need recalibrate all the landing aids at the time, which was actually the requirement.
