Federal High Court Decision Ceding Lokoja, Ajaokuta To Igala Land Has United All Kogites –IYC

The Igala Youth Council (IYC) has described the judgment of Federal High Court ceding lands in Ajaokuta, Lokoja and Kogi local government areas to Attah Igala as a victory for the state. Arising from an emergency meeting at Lugard Beach Hotel in Lokoja, the group called on sons and daughters of Igala Kingdom to remain calm and law abiding. In a communiqué signed by Onogu Collins and Yahaya Hassan, President and secretary respectively, IYC congratulated the Attah Igala, Dr. Michael Ameh Oboni II and Igala indigenes over the favourable court ruling. According to the group, the Federal High Court ruling on June 2 has further reaffirmed the true ownership of lands in Lokoja, Ajaokuta and Kogi/Koton-Karfe local governments.

This victory is not only for the Igalas but for the entire Kogites. We advise all Igala sons and daughters to remain peaceful and law abiding citizens. “We condemn the actions of Kogi citizens that are using social media to cause disunity in Kogi State as a result of the land ownership victory of Igala Kingdom affirmed by the Federal High Court Lokoja. We enjoin the good people of Kogi state to be peaceful, as they will be no meaningful development under an atmosphere of violence,” the communiqué read. IYC commended, Governor Yahaya Bello for his proactive measures in tackling insecurity and his efforts to foster peace and unity in the state. “We also appreciate his efforts in making sure that Kogi State remain a Covid-19 free state.”
