In a groundbreaking decision, a Federal High Court in Abuja has ruled against the Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO), declaring their actions of stopping vehicles on the road, seizing vehicles, and levying fines on drivers as illegal. The ruling puts an end to the controversial practices that have long been a source of frustration for drivers in the city.

The court’s decision comes as a relief to motorists who have often fallen victim to the arbitrary actions of the VIO. The ruling not only prohibits the VIO from stopping vehicles and seizing them but also prevents them from levying fines on drivers without due process.
