Federal Government Inaugurates Committee to Review Salaries Based on New Minimum Wage

The federal government has established a committee to examine and implement necessary salary adjustments in line with the newly established minimum wage of N70,000. The 16-member committee, chaired by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, comprises equal representation from the federal government and trade union sides.

The committee’s primary objective is to negotiate and agree on consequential salary adjustments arising from the National Minimum Wage Act, 2024, ensuring fair compensation for affected employees. This move demonstrates the government’s commitment to implementing the new minimum wage and promoting equitable remuneration practices in the public sector.
