The Chief Medical Director of Kogi State Specialist Hospital and a cousin of governor Yahaya Bello, Prof. Isah Yahaya Adagiri has auctioned a Prado Jeep 2023 model worth N95 million to himself for N2 million.
Investigation revealed that the vehicle with Plate Number 08f01KG was barely a year after it was purchased for the Specialist Hospital to be used by the CMD as official car.
A source who craved anonymity at the Hospital confirmed this to CAPITAL POST in Lokoja, over the weekend that the Director of Administration and internal Auditor in the hospital connived the Auction unit of the State Ministry of Finance to write a report declaring the vehicle that has not spent 12 months as “unserviceable”, which the CMD successfully auctioned to himself for N2 million.
He said: “Prof Isah Yahaya Adagiri, Chief Medical Director of the Kogi State Specialist Hospital, a cousin of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, the Director of Administration and the Auditor of the hospital working with the Auction Unit of the State Ministry of Finance to dispose and auction hospital vehicles to themselves as scraps, as part of their largess as the Yahaya Bello’s government is winding down on Saturday.”
Our correspondent who pretended to be a patient on Monday visited the Hospital to ascertain the report earlier made available to him and discovered that the Jeep in question has been moved to CMD’s family house in Kano.
Further inquiry revealed that two other official vehicles [Ultima Product] which were still at the best were sold as scrap for a ridiculous amount of N200,000 to two senior staff of the Specialist Hospital.
It was observed on Monday how the Specialist Hospital look deserted and only be told that treatment of patients in the facility costs more compared to other private facilities in the State, hence, people are avoiding the facility.
Effort to see the Chief Medical Director on Monday before filing the report, proved abortive as he was unavailable and nobody was willing to explain his where about or provide his telephone number to our correspondent.
