Four days after the so called National Security Adviser office disbandment of the National Taskforce, which was widely published by major newspapers. From all indication, it seems to be a fake news devoid of substance. Even though one major newspaper claimed to have its source from online blog base in London.
Though the purported press statement which wasn’t directly credited to NSA Major General Aliyu Monguno has come under public scrutiny considering the fact there is a subsisting court order delivered by His lordship Justice Chukwu of Federal High Court Abuja, 2011 which barred every government agencies from interfering in the activities of the NATFORCE. Although the Director General of the Agency, Dr Baba Mohammed while addressing press men during interaction with common wealth group confirmed the fact that the bill for the establishment of the NATFORCE has passed through the second reading which automatically has confirmed the fact that legal framework is already being put in place.
Investigation by OBSERVERS TIMES revealed that, till this moment, the Headquarters of the National Taskforce in Asokoro is yet to receive any memo or official correspondence from the National Security Adviser NSA office. While speaking with our correspondent, the legal head of the NATFORCE said the agency hasn’t received any memo concerning the well publicized disbandment which is yet to be confirmed.
Though an attempt to reach Mr ZM Usman – who is the author of the statement on behalf of the National Security Adviser proved abortive; but, the finding revealed that disbandment of a structured agency must involve Official memo to the management of the said agency. It is true that NATFORCE is recruiting volunteers to boost its needed manpower. It is equally true that, thousands of graduate already enrolled with major critical stakeholder of the country have their relatives enlisted. So many graduates have been taken from the street, documented and awaiting the senate final node before the can meaningful contribute their own quota to the development of the country. The news of disbandment sent panic among thousands graduates. Speaking to Mustapha Lawal- a graduate of economics who applied for employment in the organisation, he said, “whatever be the issues involving the politicians should be resolved. The is no job in Nigeria and I have been unemployed for 4 years, I see the NATFORCE job has a way out of employment and the purported news of its disbandment really saddens me.” Thousands of unemployed youths share the same worry as Mustapha.
Although Senator Utaji has confirmed the legality of the organisation is being but in place and from all indication, members of the national assembly are in favour of a speedy passage of the bill and hope the president will see reason to assent to it if and when the bill is passed into law.
