EXCLUSIVE : Governor Elrufai accused of seducing Northern NBA States chairmen to boycott the seminar- lawyer alleged seeks investigation of MURIC

A prominent member and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN has accused the Kasuna state Governor of dividing the NBA alone the religion line over his the withdrawal of the invitation earlier sent to the embattled governor of Kaduna state, OBSERVERS TIMES Learnt.

The Religion seems to be tearing the nation apart, The edge in his voice sought to explain, to emphasize, to insist, that a wrong had been done to enable profession by those lawyers standing with El’rufai on religion sentiment, retrograde attitude of the NBA toward the Kaduna state governor was aiming at correcting the initial mistake of inviting him ab initio.
“Things have gotten so bad around here that a professional retreat now being divided along the regional and religion line,” said a well-placed executive with the Nigerian Bar Association. The executive, who denied that he harbored any resentment about the withdraws of the invitation said the decision of the NBA is in tandem with the public opinion and perception, One highly placed SAN and a member of the NBA who spoke on condition of anonymity because he said he did not want to get on the wrong side of Mallam Elrufai who has developed the culture of using any arms of religion to protecting his ego and selfish desire.

He said “ NBA believed in fair hearing, but a man who had a culture of violating court order right from the time as Federal Capital Territory Minister lack necessary credentials to address lawyers in such August gathering”
He accused Elrufai of using MURIC The  Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) says the decision of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to withdraw the invitation to Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, to speak at its annual general meeting is a declaration of war., lamenting what concerned Muslim group with withdrawal of invitation earlier sent called on relevant security agency to caution the activists of MURIC which is becoming a threat to National security and capable of inciting religion tension in the country.
The lawyer said he had it on a good authority that some NBA chairmen from the North are currently under pressure to backed out of the schedule meeting In solidarity with Kaduna state Governor who has declared the NBA as an enemy.
“What I found was more complicated and troubling than one perplexing viral moment”, he said that some members of the BAR in the northern region who are highly educated who volunteer time and energy in hopes of improving public behavior will take the part of religion sentiment in supporting a governor who has violated court orders times without number,
NBA membership requires lots of tedious, mostly thankless work of a sort that no one undertakes for the power of regional interest, shocking that the NBA resolutions that pass at meetings aren’t even binding on the some states. Yet this advisory body of well-meaning people is plagued by polarizing disagreements about the nature of speaker that should be speaking, that undermine its ability to effect change. Earlier, OBSERVERS TIMES report that Human Rights Activist and Lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, has thrown its weight in support of the Nigeria Bar Association’s, NBA, action, withdrawing the invitation extended to Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
NBA had earlier invited him as a speaker in the forthcoming NBA Virtual Annual General Conference 2020.
Following a petition initiated by some lawyers and was later signed online by over 1,300 persons, NBA withdrew the invitation.
