EXCLUSIVE: Another Former NNPC Big Wig Dies from COVID-19

Barely two weeks after Suleiman Achimugu, a former Managing Director of the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), a subsidiary of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) died of Coronavirus, the Corporation has recorded another casualty to COVID-19 as one of its Former Directors, Vincent Konyeha has also died of the virus.

A family member, who confirmed his death to RootstvNigeria via a text message stated that Konyeha was on his way to Nigeria from Dubai for his 85th birthday before he contracted the virus.

“He passed away from the dreadful Covid19 virus, on his way back from Dubai for his birthday celebration before he contracted this disease. He passed away at a London hospital.” A family member said in a text message toRootstvNigeria.

Konyeha is survived by his wife and six children.

So far, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 210 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria.


The breakdown showed that four deaths have been recorded while 25 people have recovered from the virus as of April 3rd, 2020.

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide stood at 1,097,810. In total, 59,140 people have died from COVID-19, while 228,385 have recovered from the disease.
