Dr. Reuben Abati, a veteran journalist and former Senior Adviser on Media and Publicity to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has expressed his concerns about Nigeria’s economic situation. On Arise TV’s Morning Show, Abati stated that former President Muhammadu Buhari is likely “laughing” at the current state of the country from his Daura village in Katsina State.
Abati criticized the economic management of the current administration, led by individuals from the Southwest who claimed to be better at managing the economy. He described the situation as a “gross embarrassment” and highlighted the suffering of Nigerians, including increased school fees, high cost of living, and fuel scarcity.
Abati emphasized that the immediate future of Nigerians hangs in the balance, and the pain has gone beyond hunger. He urged those in power to take responsibility and prevent the situation from escalating further, warning that some individuals have threatened to go on strike on October 1 due to the pain of hunger and anger.
