Eulogizing Usman Okai Austin, A Rugged And Dogged Political Activist – By Prof. AD Akpa

At a time when many politicians from Kogi East stayed in their comfort zones and too much scared to go home, this young man took over the front line role of ensuring good governance in Kogi State through sustained media campaigns against the excesses of Gov. Yahaya Bello and his administration.

I had prayed privately that God Almighty will open the eyes of our people to see the benefits of the struggle that one man alone, Austin, has carried upon himself and the emancipation that lay therein for us all. He was most times constantly on the run and even had to be arbitrarily detained ocassionally! He’s not a man that should even be tagged with a particular political party. In all sincerity, given saner climes he is a character that can sail successfully as an independent candidate based on his antecedents.

He did what the seasoned politicians from Kogi East couldn’t and failed to do. I can’t see another person eminently and abundantly qualified to represent the interests of Dekina-Bassa Federal Constituency and in fact the entire Kogi East in the Federal House of Representatives than Austin Usman Okai! In all honesty he deserves a higher level representation but for the current nature of our politics that requires uncommon financial endowment!

I therefore call on the good people of Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency most especially the youths to network massively in support of his candidacy. Giving him support to go to the hallowed green chambers for me is not even enough reward for he stands for!

Given our present circumstances, in whom can a gallant, brave, articulate, focused and intelligent representation be found but for Usman Okai Austin? Consequently, I ask you all to make Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency and the entire Igala-Bassa nation proud by giving him your unconditional and unalloyed support!

Good bless Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency!

God bless Igala-Bassa Nation!!

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!
