The second eTranzact Golf Classic has commenced at the IBB Golf and Country Club in Abuja, with a total of 186 players registered for the tournament. The event, organized by the Professional Golf Development Tour (PGD Tour), aims to promote golf talents in Nigeria.
According to the PGD Tour Commissioner, Femi Olagbenro, 126 professional golfers will compete on Wednesday and Thursday, while 60 amateur players will participate on Friday. The tournament is a 54-hole challenge, with a mid-way cut after 36 holes, where the top 30 professionals will proceed to the classification round alongside club amateurs on Friday.
Notable players participating in the tournament include defending champion Francis Epe, Sunday Olapade, who recently featured in the Cameroon Golf Open, Okoko Godwin, Kamalu Bako, Kabiru Mohammad, Marcus Elisha, and George Inalegwu. Additionally, top golfers from West African countries, including Ghana PGA players Bary Yaw, Augustine Manasseh, and Kofi Owusu, are also taking part.
A prize money of N20 million is up for grabs at the tournament, which is expected to showcase the best of golf talents in Nigeria. The eTranzact Golf Classic is the latest event on the PGD Tour, which has staged three events this year, aimed at developing professional golf in the country.
