Enugu State Government Announces N80,000 As New Minimum Wage.

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has taken a significant step towards improving the welfare of civil servants in the state. While details of an ₦80,000 minimum wage are still under wraps, Governor Mbah has demonstrated his commitment to workers’ welfare through various initiatives.

Recently, he announced cash awards of between ₦10,000 and ₦25,000 to state workers from December to April 2024 ¹. This gesture aims to cushion the effects of the petroleum subsidy removal.

Additionally, Governor Mbah has inaugurated a committee to review the minimum wage, indicating his dedication to fair compensation for workers ². The committee’s recommendations will guide the implementation of a new minimum wage in the state.
