Betrayal Game: Kogi Speaker Fails To Make INEC List for Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency.

The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Matthew Kolawole seems to be in another trouble as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed to forward his name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as House of Representatives candidate of the party for Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency in the 2023 general elections.

This is coming few weeks after he was allegedly removed by suspended principal officers, an allegation which was denied by the member representing Dekina/Okura constituency in a motion.

But investigations revealed that the Speaker’s name is missing in the list displayed by the electoral umpire.

This, sources said, might be unconnected to allegations of forgery of the list of delegates list for the primary election to produced the Speaker as candidate of the party. An outcome which was rejected by other contestants.

According to sources, as far as Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency is concerned, the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) does not have a candidate which has dashed the hope of the party to clinch the seat from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which has held the position since 1999.

Prince Kolawole, newsmen in Abuja learnt, has been running helter skelter between the APC and the powers that be to save him, but no one is ready to listen to him.

The Speaker was absent during the home coming of the State Governor, Yahaya Bello on Sunday while the Deputy Governor, Edward Onoja, other members of the state executive council and lawmakers were on ground to receive the Governor after the presidential primary that he lost to Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the party.

Our source also added the Prince Kolawole might be charged to court over allegations of forgery.

It could be recalled that the Senator representing Kogi West, Smart Adeyemi had sacked his Senior Legislative Aide, Chief Cornelius Olowo over allegations of misconduct and unruly behaviour as well as forgery of list of delegates for the primary election.

Olowo was said to be the arrow head in the manipulation of delegates list in the primary election that produced the Speaker as the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
