Eguavoen Denies Stepping Down as Super Eagles Coach

by

Austin Eguavoen, Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has refuted claims that he has stepped down as interim coach of the Super Eagles. Eguavoen led the team to a 3-0 win over Benin Republic and a goalless draw against Rwanda in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

After the Rwanda game, reports emerged that Eguavoen had stepped down, but he has denied this, stating that he only discussed reviewing the team’s progress with the NFF hierarchy after the two games.

Eguavoen emphasized that he is still in charge and will continue to lead the team, including in next month’s AFCON qualifiers against Libya. He expressed concern over the spread of misinformation and emphasized the need for positive stories amidst the team’s journey.

As Technical Director and interim coach, Eguavoen remains committed to guiding the Super Eagles through the qualifying stages and beyond.
