In a significant move, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested two high-ranking officials from the Kogi State Government House. Alh. Dr. Umaru Oricha Shuaibu, Director General of Government House Administration, and Abdulsalami Hudu, former cashier, presented themselves at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja and were taken into custody.
The arrests are connected to allegations of corruption, including the withdrawal of over ₦46 billion in cash from Kogi State government bank accounts. A Federal High Court in Abuja had previously ordered the arrest of Hudu and Oricha, paving the way for the EFCC to take action.
The EFCC is currently investigating the alleged corruption and money laundering involving Kogi State government officials, including former Governor Yahaya Bello. As the investigation unfolds, more details are expected to emerge.
