EDO NO BE EKO! Dr. D Charima – _Observing from Abuja_

Oshiomole fought beasts in the name of “halting Godfatherism” in Edo but he obviously became ” the beast” himself. Indeed absolute power corrupt absolutely and it is playing out in Benin Kingdom.
I for one was really unhappy with what happened to Ambode, the one-term Governor of Lagos State. No matter how bad things turned out for Tinubu who has a national ambition should have shown magnanimity to return him Governor but he took up a street fight with the gentleman.
Again, I saw another sense of political immaturity in Tinubu when he in a Press Conference uttered un-statesmanly labels on Obaseki just to prove a point that he is relevant in all states or maybe to extend his Political dynasty and with the type of Oshiomole he would need thugs and ground fighters to rig, coarse or manipulate his way to Aso villa as Commander in chief in 2023.
Asiwaju is not just a Billionaire moneybag but he is reputed as the number one African Landlord and these alone should be a plus that he is after rebuilding a new Nigeria with a promise but his acts are recently saying otherwise.
Not to mention his stock assets, properties, Financial firms, luxurious comfort inns and institutions be it print or conventional media he owns Lagos in a way of speaking. Perhaps, he wants to spread his wings for a total grip of Nigeria’and Edo is his trial ground with Oshio as his foot soldier.
In a way also, Tinubu and Oshiomole are on a face-saving mission. The fall of Oshiomole as National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) was too colossal and to redeem his name and fame he needed to prove that with or without position his loyalty is total and not that he was afraid of court probe on corruption charges and the possible constant visits to EFCC rest room.
Edolites are a different kind of breed. They are progressive and are willing to follow whoever is willing to do it differently and without cheating on them. Oshiomole won his Elections on the basis of that mantra “End Godfatherism” and “One man One Vote” but might lose it on the same basis for violating the same.
Asiwaju is a stranger to Benin from the body language on ground despite his national image but if he has any ambition to run for President in 2023, he just lost Edo if Oshiomole/APC loses to Obaseki/PDP on Saturday, 19th September 2020.
Edo is not Eko, massive voters turnout maybe recorded and bottles may probably be broken on heads and the 31,000 troops can do nothing except the sensitive materials (Ballot papers and Form EC 8) are compromised.
However, in Edo unlike Eko (Lagos) they don’t shine their eyes! They just don’t carry last. No slacking!
Congratulations to the winner
