David Zacharia A Beacon Of Hope In Idah Federal Constituency- Momoh Moses Ugbede

Hon. David Idris Zacharias, a member of the green chamber at the national assembly has distinguished himself from the past representatives in the last few years in office. This man has brought true democracy to his people through incentives that have revolutionized the entire Idah Federal Constituency.

One of the most distinctive fact about Zacharias is that he is very close to his people and easily accessible to all, a selfless virtue that is nascent in today’s democracy. He epitomizes love in its purest form, this love emanates from empathy for his people, having gone through the same circumstance of acute poverty and lack while growing up over the years.

To him, representing them is a privilege and the only way to appreciate that privilege is to better the lives of his people and to this noble and illustrious cause, is his commitment.

It is on record that Zacharias was the first legislator in the 9th Assembly to flag up constituency empowerment program in the country, this was even before the constituency allowance was given to him by the national assembly. An indication of passion and eagerness for impacting his people, no wonder he got so much support during the election.

In less than two (2) years in office, Zacharias gave out 100 tricycles, 200 motorcycles, 100 refrigerators, 200 grinding machines, 150 industrial sewing machines, 500 sewing machines, 1,000 set of barbing kits and various vocational programs for his constituents. He also installed solar-powered streetlights in over 20 communities, drilled motorized boreholes in over 10 communities, 2 cottage hospitals received interventions from his office, supply of drugs to various clinics, payment of salaries to auxiliary staff.

Furthermore, Zacharias played a vital role in fighting for boundary adjustment between Ibaji (Kogi State) and Anambra as regards the oil deposit in his constituency. He also proposed a bill for an establishmebt of a Federal college of Agriculture at Alloma which has already past the second reading on the floor if the House. The flood victims in 2019 were given relief materials as a result of his intervention, he facilitated jobs for constituents in NDELA, Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Army and other ministries.

Presently, the lawmaker is pushing for the construction of Ibaji road linking Idah and Anambra to facilitate easy transportation of goods and services within the terrain.

Similarly, Zacharias also gave out over 10, 000 notebooks, 2,000 plastic chairs and tables, 7 generating sets, 1,000 hard cover lesson notebooks, 7 computers, 17 science kits, 1,074 long notebooks, 5 golf cars, 1 Peugeot 406, 1 2007 Corolla, 30 small generators, scholarship and other educational support items. Presently, there are a lot of projects ongoing across the constituency in fact, some are at 90% completion.

It becomes imperative to note that Zacharias within this short period of time, has performed beyond expectations and for that reason, he deserves some accolades. However, stating that Zacharias has done a complete job may not be tenable as it is being said that no man is perfect, so, it is prudent or sagacious for the populace to criticize with decorum so as to enable him do the needful in the coming years.

As days builds up, the personality of the man Zacharias will be best understood by all, but for now, he stands as a beacon of hope in a society where hope has become a scarce commodity.
