Dangote Outrageous Profit Amidst All Time High Price of the product: An Insult to Nigerians

The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria of Nigeria (NYCN) have received the news of the declaration of over 500bn Profit before Tax and over 350bn profit after tax by the Dangote Cement with mix feelings. Stressing that declared amount is a sad reminder of how Nigerians and Nigeria is being riped and raped by monopolist that enjoys government protection and patronage.

The Council noted that the average price of a 50kg bag of cement has since increased in Country, currently selling at over 240% above global average price of commodity despite the fact that is Nigeria the global Headquarters of Poverty. Looking inward, Northern Nigeria where Dangote hails from has larger chunk of this poverty and other frightening negative economic and social variables.

Rather than making this easy for Nigerians, Alhaji Aliko Dangote is all out to ensure that poor Nigerians are turned to destitute in their own country by his continues inflation of prices of commodities he has control over.

As Muslims all over the world plan to commence Ramadan fasting, Abdulsamad Isiyala Rabiu, the CEO of BUA disclosed the satanically inspired plan by Alhaji Aliko Dangote to mastermind the increase in the price of sugar which is the only sweet but potentially harmful product on the table of every poor Nigeria.

Ordinarily, as stakeholders in the Nigeria project and voice to voiceless Northerners, we ought to be happy that our son making is making tremendous progress and holding the title of the richest man in Africa, however, of what use is that, if he is interested in maintaining his Forbes rating while poverty keep on rising in his home front thereby leading to rise in insecurity?

We therefore wish to call on the members of National Assembly and Key policy makers to ensure that companies that keep on releasing outrageous profit provide evidence of cooperate social responsibility that is commensurate to their earnings.

Furthermore, in the light of rising price of Cement, which has led to increase in the rent of most houses, we wish to call on the CBN to lift the ban imposed on Cement import so that healthy competition rather than heartless capitalism devoid of empathy will determine the price of the commodity in the our markets. We understand that the CBN decision to ban import to is to ban exportation of jobs, we know that the workers Of Dangote are insignificant compared to cheated and exploited Millions of Nigerians.

Comrade Isah Abubakar
