Cristiano Ronaldo ‘makes contract decision’ after talks held with Man Utd

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly made a contract decision – and it’s bad news for Manchester United.

The Portugal international has one year left on his current deal at Juventus and was expected to leave this summer for one last challenge.

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have been on red alert, with the Old Trafford club even reportedly making contact with their former player to sound him out over a move.

The Red Devils prioritised completing a deal for Jadon Sancho, which they have pretty much got over the line, and are also looking to bring in a world-class centre-back, with Raphael Varane on the shopping list.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, however, the deal doesn’t look like it is ever going to come to fruition as Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes is allegedly in talks with Juventus over a new deal for his client.

The report claims Ronaldo is keen to sign a new one-year contract that will keep him in Turin until 2022.

The director of football at Juventus Federico Cherubini recently doubled down on this suggestion, saying he has heard nothing from the five-time Ballon d’Or winner that he wants out.

“There has been no signal from Ronaldo. Especially the rumours that there should be a transfer and there’s no sign from Juventus in this regard,” said Cherubini.
