COVID-I9: Set up Testing Centres In Your States, Akyala Tells NGF

A medical Laboratory Scientist and a virologist, Dr Ishaku Akyala has advised the Nigeria Governor Forum (NGF) to as a matter of urgency put in place testing Centres like the Isolation Centres put together in their respective states.

Dr Akyala in his Facebook page warned that Nigeria can only succeed in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic when it expand her testing capacity across the states of the federation.

He said with N35 million, any state can set up a diagnostic testing Centre with all the necessary equipment, including maintenance with Laboratory personnels for the testing of Covid-19.

“If we must make a headway in combating this Covid19 PANDEMIC in Nigeria, we must expand our testing Capacity across states of the Federation.

“Dear Governors, with 35 million naira, you can set up a diagnostic centre for testing Covid19 virus from scratch which included: Supply of Rest Time PCR system for testing, Training of Laboratory personnel, installation and maintenance”.

Dr Ishaku Akyala who has been vocal providing updates since the outbreak of the pandemic, said to achieve this, various state governments can
cut down by 70% allowances and salary of all Political appointees and use the resources to set up testing labs at LGA level .

He also advised House of Assembly members in the country to forfeit their one month salaries to ensure the setting up of testing centers in their respective constituencies.
