The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called on government and Nigerians not to relax current measures to contain the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
According to the cleric, it will only amount to foolishness to become careless and relax the measures too soon since the pandemic is not yet over.
Adeboye stated this in his Easter Message on Sunday entitled: ‘A New Beginning.’
He said, “Before I go any further, I want to bring good news to someone. I want to tell you my God is not dead. He is alive; not only He is alive, but He is also in control. If you had any doubt at all, the situation in the recent past should show you clearly that he is in control.
“I want to also advise that we should remain on our guards. It will be unwise to relax too soon. When I say relax, I am not talking about being anxious, I’m talking about becoming careless. We are not out of the woods yet, we will be and it won’t be too long.”
Lagos and Ogun states as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have remained on lockdown following the order of President Muhammadu Buhari two weeks ago as part of measures to curtail the the virus in Nigeria.
Most of the governors have also ordered a lockdown, among other measures, to root out the novel coronavirus in Nigeria.
