COVID-19 NBC donates protective items to Community Broadcasting Stations.

The National Broadcasting Commission, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility and in appreciation of the strategic role of the media in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic, has donated protective items to Community Broadcasting Stations for staff on Essential Duties during the Lockdown.

The Commission noted, with pride, the magnanimous support of the Nigeria Broadcasting Industry as they partner with the National Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC, and the Federal Government Taskforce on COVID 19, through intensive advocacy campaign, enlightenment and coverage of the periodic briefing of the relevant organisations.

In the light of the Corona Virus pandemic and the daily record of its global spread, the Commission is concerned about the protection of Broadcast Media Operatives, who are also key essential workers. The support was provided to Community stations who cater to the grass-roots communities. These items are intended to kit the Community Broadcast operatives, adequately, against the deadly virus as they remain in the field to provide updates on the pandemic.

Accompanying the kits were enlightenment jingles in the local Languages to further educate the communities on the do’s and don’ts during this period.

The Commission, once again, call on Nigerians to adhere to the directives of NCDC and the Federal Government Taskforce on the Pandemic, to observe Social Distancing through this period.
