Court Orders Immediate Release Of Orji Uzor Kalu

Justice Mohammed Liman of the Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the immediate release of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu from the Correctional Centre.

The Judge gave the order on Tuesday after hearing the application filed by Kalu.

Recall that Supreme Court had nullified the conviction of Kalu who is a former governor of Abia state, and ordered the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court to reassign the case for a fresh trial.

Kalu was convicted by the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court in December 5, 2019, and sentenced to 12 years in prison for N7.65 billion fraud.

He was convicted for defrauding the government of Abia State where he was a governor for 8 years using his company, Slok Nigeria Limited.

He is expected to be release following the new court order.
