The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Mustapha Habib Ahmed, looted over N3billion between January and February 2023 through the award of fictitious contracts to 27 companies registered within five months with some still pending completion of registrations with the Corporate Affairs Commission.
A front of Nasir Danu, a notorious and fraudulent contractor, Ahmed, was appointed in 2021 by former President Mohammadu Buhari’s administration.
Ahmed registered numerous companies using proxies for the sole purpose of awarding them different kinds of contract in NEMA and was making huge sums of payments to the newly registered companies running into several Millions on a monthly basis.
Aside the fraudulent payments in January and February 2023, on September 26, 2023,
24 payments totaling N944,062,245.72 were made to the various companies which were largely newly registered companies without description of purpose of payment. And on September 28, 2023, another tranche of money totaling N1,197,097,988.99 was paid to the same set of companies.
