Kogi Patriotic Group KPG has rejected in strongest terms any form of sales or lease of public assets belonging to the state government, because of it’s translucent stance .
The group in it’s reaction over the sales/lease of legacy assets of the state government by the current administration, saying the process lack credibility as the investors are not credible ones, listed on the website of Nigerian Stock Exchange, but fronts and cronies of the state government.
Abdul Abdul who spoke on behalf on the body, opined the immediate reversal of the transaction or the state government will risk litigation.
He says the ideas of the state government to sell/lease assets of the state is childish and archaic,as you cannot ‘sell Dog to buy another Dog’.
The group maintained that no state government in Nigeria had embarked on asset lease/sales except a well arranged bond from the stock market, stating that Kogi state government has position it’s friends and well wishers to take over it’s assets after plunging the state to bankruptcy.
‘For a goverrment who cannot embark on completion of new Kogi Hotels and carry out some repairs on Confluence Beach Hotel, has no good plans of turning around the fortune of the state.’
He says the people of the state are not unaware of plans to sell off Kogi House in Abuja, were other states like Abia,Adamawa and others are raking in Billions of naira in revenue yearly.
‘No benefits will be attracted to the state from the sales/lease ,rather than personal aggrandizement and diversion into personal pockets, after assessing/exhausting all grants in loans and allocation.’
He promised to resist the new form of corruption rearing it’s head in Kogi state, believing that in a sane environment,a committee is suppose to handle such arrangement, and not the teleguided Kogi Investment and Properties Limited, whose appointees were stooges of the state government.
