SPEECH BY HON. ABUBAKAR SADIQ AINOKO ON THE OCCASION OF A COURTESY VISIT TO HIS EXCELLENCY, ALHAJI YAHAYA BELLO, THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF KOGI STATE BY FORMER APPOINTEES OF HIS EXCELLENCY, CAPTAIN IDRIS WADA ON SUNDAY, 30th JULY, 2023.

Let me on behalf of my colleagues, Former Appointees of His Excellency, Captain Idris Wada (2012 to 2016) thank God Almighty for the opportunity to be a part of this courtesy visit today. I must also appreciate Your Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the workaholic and History creating Governor of our dear state for approving this courtesy visit in a record time. This show of love and magnanimity has no doubt endeared you to our hearts.
Your Excellency Sir,as a group of very focused Kogites who left office nearly eight years ago, we must appreciate the complete turn around in several sectors of Kogi State. Honestly, the first fly over in the state watered to fruiton by your pragmatic and quality leadership has improved the rating of Lokoja in terms of aesthetics. The referral hospital at Okene and of course the establishment of two citadels of learning, Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara and Kogi State University, Kabba are also legacies that the people f Kogi State will cherish till eternity. Mention must also be made of the completion of Anyigba Idah road.
No doubt, one area you have excelled is your penchant for human development. So many people who never thought they could be appointed to positions of authority have found themselves at the driver’s seats of many Government agencies. Some of our members have benefited from this unique posture endowed on you by Almighty Allah.
Your Excellency Sir, we are here today on this visit to intimate you with issues bothering us as a group of patriots who served our state meritoriously in various capacities. We were also like other civil servants, owed four months salaries and captured to be paid through bail out funds released to the state. We were however not considered when the fund was eventually released. We therefore crave your usual magnanimity in the following areas:
-Payment of four months salary arears
-Payment of our severance allowance
-Consideration of our members for appointments
-Consideration of our group for proposed palliatives among others
Furthermore, we are former Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, Heads and Members of Boards and Agencies among others. We are very much aware that to whom much is given much is expected in return. Your Excellency Sir, we are ready to express our commitment and support in your drive towards achieving a Kogi state of our dreams.
Permit me to appreciate your recognition of our Principal, His Excellency, Captain Idris Wada as the First Leader of our state to be visited by the Governorship Candidate of APC, Alhaji Usman Ododo. It is a display of maximum respect and it gladdens our hearts.
I thank you once again Your Excellency, for this open doors. We promise not to take this for granted as we also vow to leave our doors open for you.
