The Media Office of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the confrontation between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the ex-governor.
In a statement signed by Ohiare Michael, the media office condemned the EFCC’s conduct, labeling its recent releases and actions as biased.
The office urged President Tinubu to step in, emphasizing the need for the fight against corruption to remain impartial.
According to Michael, the anti-graft agency’s approach to the attempt to arrest the former governor was more of an “embarrassment” to the agency, alleging that the action was driven by undisclosed personal and political interests rather than a genuine commitment to combating corruption. “If the EFCC was truly interested in prosecution, would the agency not have taken him in on that day?” the office inquired.
This plea follows the EFCC’s declaration of Bello as wanted after his recent visit to their office.
OBSERVERSTIMES recalls that the former governor had appeared at the agency’s premises on September 19, accompanied by Governor Ododo and other high-profile personalities. However, he was allowed to leave without being questioned.
