The former commissioner of finance and gubernatorial aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party in the 2019 Governorship election in Kogi State, Hon Zakari Alfa celebrates with the entire Christian faithful across the nation and Kogi State in particular on this great occasion marking the commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ (prophet Isa alihi salam) which is an annual global event in the Christendom. It has been observed with facts that Christianity as one of the oldest religions in the world has consistently provided a rare and viable platform where humanity and peaceful coexistence has been the focal point and where love is extended without discrimination. It’s sheer hypocrisy on the part of any Moslem not to appreciate the mystery of the birth of Jesus Christ as it’s scriptural even in the holy Qur’an where it’s severally acknowledged and binding on the adherents of Islam to respect the name as the prophet of God.
In the celebration of this nature, one thing is sacrosanct, we must collectively agree in actions and spirit that the need to create synergy between the two most popular religions in the world must be held firmly constant believing that we only exist for one another but ultimately to serve God in his own instructions and commandments. Historical evidence has revealed that Kogi State remains one of the states in the country with a thriving spiritual environment where different religions and their faithful cohabit and exhibit their religious practices without acrimony. Kudos must be given to the various spiritual and political leaders abinitio who instilled into us the spirit of oneness and the need to avoid religious segregation in our respective environments.
While we continue in the euphoric celebration, we must remember to eschew violence and appreciate the poor in our midst who also deserve our love and respect. It’s about showcasing love to Jesus Christ which must be replicated in actions to humanity as a way of acknowledging our own Prophet tagged as the Messiah of peace and love. The celebration is incomplete and the essence would have been defeated if we choose not to preach the gospel of peace and love as it’s considered the most fundamental aspect of the season. To all the Christian brothers and sisters in Kogi, this is once again reaffirming my love and commitment to you , that in me , surely, you will have a leader with a balanced psychology who appreciates our differences. Congratulations to all of us and a merry Christmas celebration. I love you all.
