A 43-year-old Catholic priest, Father Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku, has passed away under mysterious circumstances in a hotel room in Gatanga, Kenya. He was accompanied by a woman described as his girlfriend.
According to a police report, Father Kariuki and his girlfriend checked into Monalisa Hotel Delview on the evening of Friday, July 7. However, the next morning, the girlfriend alerted hotel management that the priest was feeling unwell and was getting unconscious.
Hotel staff and the girlfriend rushed Father Kariuki to Kenol Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The priest was still in the car when he was declared dead.
The incident has raised eyebrows, as Father Kariuki was a man of the cloth, and his actions contradict the Catholic Church’s teachings on celibacy. An investigation is likely to follow to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
This tragic event has sparked conversations about the challenges faced by members of the clergy and the support systems in place for them.
