Buhari Writes Presidential Tribunal: ‘I Can Read, Write, Understand, Speak English Fluently, So I’m Qualified To Contest’

An ally of Atiku Abubakar has disclosed to ElombahNews that President Muhammadu Buhari wrote to the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) justifying that he is eligible to contest the 2019 presidential election with or without the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) certificate.
According to him, President Buhari, in the letter, averred that he can read, write, understand and speak English language fluently and that he, therefore, is qualified to contest for the office of the President, according to a source.
The source, however, reminded that “forgery and lying under oath is still a crime”, saying that he forged a West African Examinations Council (WAEC) certificate.

He noted that if confirmed that the president does not posses the requisite documents, not only will he be disqualified but that he faces prison time for forgery.
