In a tough world like ours, only courageous few could etch their names on the sands of time at very young age. Among the names that readily come to mind when it comes to young political achievers in Nigeria is Comrade Okai Austin Usman, a Kogi State born political activist and banking sector giant.
Usman Austin Okai was born on the 1st of August to the family of Late Mr. and Mr. Francis Yahaya Usman of Abocho in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
He began his formal education journey at the LGEA RCM primary School, Emewe Opada where he was brought up by his grand Father, Alhaji Usman Adaji between 1990 and 1995. Thereafter, he proceeded to Our Lady of School, OLS Anyigba where he passed out in 2001 thereabout.
As a man who never settles for less, he opted in for a Pre National Diploma program at the Federal Polytechnic Idah. He was later enrolled for National Diploma in 2003 at the same school where he was schooled on Accountancy.
Okai began his professional career at the Banking Sector when he served as the Front Desk Officer with the then Intercontinental Bank while on Industrial Training. He later joined the Oceanic Bank in furtherance of his career in the financial industry.
In his bid for further Education, he proceeded to Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa in 2009 where he bagged HND in Accountancy and was deployed to Federal Medical Center Makurdi by the NYSC for the compulsory one year service to the nation between 2012 to 2013.
As a young man with keen interest for community development, he availed himself as a teacher in Ofoji Community Secondary School Emewe and Ayede Grammar School respectively where he willfully taught students diverse subjects while still pursuing his Diploma program at the FPI.
Comrade Austin who is mentored by Late Chief Abdul-Ganiyu “Gani” Oyesola Fawehinmi, and Liutarate Laurent Wole Soyinka imbibed courageousness from the due. His political involvement began at FPI when he vied for the office of the departmental Treasurer. He became a voice to reckon with when he joined Student Union Government (SUG) at the Nasarawa State polytechnic.
Okai was ushered into Kogi politics when Hon. Haliu Abdul brought him onboard to see Captain Idris Wada through against late Prince Audu Abubakar in the 2015 Kogi State governorship election.
Comrade Okai Austin Usman who has become the strongest voice of opposition today in Kogi State and a national People’s Democratic Party youth frontier, is happily married to the CEO of FedoBee Skin Care, Mrs Fedoje Bridget from Adeh-Okpo in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.
