The Yoruba agitator was apprehended in the neighboring country on Monday night.
But in a statement obtained by THE OBSERVERS TIMES is attached:
Mr Igboho according his Legal Team expressed gratitude to Benin Republic Govt and people for standing with Yoruba nation and turning down the request to allow Nigerian security to force him back to Nigeria.
The lawyers added that Mr Igboho will continue his journey to an undisclosed country.
Igboho was declared wanted after the Department of State Services (DSS) operation at his Ibadan residence on July 1.
He was asked to turn himself in to the nearest security agency. But the secessionist went underground.
Igboho stayed away from the July 3 Yoruba Nation rally he promoted and later called off due to the assault on his home.
