Breaking News: Court Upholds Asue Ighodalo as Edo PDP Governorship Candidate

A Federal High Court in Abuja has delivered a landmark judgment, affirming Dr. Asue Ighodalo as the legitimate governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State. The court’s decision, delivered by Justice James Omotosho, validates Ighodalo’s nomination at the PDP primary election held on February 22, 2024, in Benin City.

Ighodalo emerged victorious in the primary election, garnering 577 votes to defeat Philip Shaibu and 10 other aspirants. The court’s ruling dismisses the lawsuit filed by Shaibu, challenging Ighodalo’s nomination.

This judgment reinforces Ighodalo’s candidacy for the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, solidifying his position as the PDP’s flagbearer. The ruling is a significant development in the state’s political landscape, providing clarity and certainty for the upcoming election.
