Balarabe Sule, the deputy commissioner of police in charge of operations in Kano State, who was redeployed to Zamfara from Kano last week, has been redeployed again to his duty post.
He replaced DCP Bukar Madu-Biu, who served for only one week.
Mr Sule, served as chief security of officer to Mr Ganduje when he held the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP, in 2015 before getting rapid promotion to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP.
The police officer was transferred from Kano to Zamfara on February 14 and redeployed back to the state to head the same operations department on February 20.
“DCP Balarabe Sule is deeply partisan. We are concerned about his redeployment to Kano.
“The fact that he was transferred less than one week ago and redeployed again says everything about APC’s plan to rig election,” Mr Bichi said.
In a petition to the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, a non-governmental organisation, Center for Awareness on Justice and Accountability, CAJA, also kicked against the redeployment, citing Mr Sule’s partisanship.
“We are seriously worried because his return to Kano may jeopardize the relative peace being enjoyed in the state at the moment, arising from the non-partisan effort of the new state Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Wakili,” CAJA said in a letter jointly signed by its director, Kabiru Dakata and board member, Nura Ma’aji.
“The partisan role played by Balarabe Sule as CSP and ACP, to favor the political camp of his ex-classmate and close friend, the current chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, was the reason why he (Abdullahi Abbas) and his other political allies are known for inciting public in their political gatherings.
“For example, in January 30, 2018, there was a rally at Kwanar Dangora, where governor Ganduje, the chief whip of the federal house of representatives, Alasan Ado Doguwa, some state government officials and hundreds of Ganduje’s followers were seen holding arms at a rally ahead of local government election in the state.
“Prior to the rally, the then Kano State Commissioner of Special Duties, Abdullahi Abbas called on their supporters to stone the former governor of the state, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who intended to visit the state but stopped by the Kano State Police Command.”
CAJA further expressed concern over Mr Sule’s redeployment at the moment in view of the heightened political tension in the state.
“We feel it is necessary for us to inform you of the danger ahead, if DCP Balarabe Sule is retransferred back to Kano State, at this critical time of heightened partisan political activities.”
