Boundary Commission to explore local, foreign assistance to achieve mandate-DG Alhaji Adamu Adaji

The National Boundary Commission (NBC) says, it is poise to explore collaborations with local and foreign agencies to facilitate the effective actualisation of it mandate in both internal and  International boundary management.

The Director-General of the NBC, Adamu Adaji, gave the hint in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Abuja.

“There are areas we will explore in conjunction with the appropriate agencies of government and international organisations.

“African Union Border Programme was able to get assistance from the German Agency for International Corporation (JIZ). They have also keyed into some of our activities with Republic of Niger.

“However, we are trying to see the possibility of exploring further assistance from donor agencies because anything legitimate that can assist the government to make funds available is welcome.

“We will identify those agencies to see how they can assist so that we will be up and doing in our international boundary activities,” he said.

Adaji also added that the Sun Trust Fund was being handled by the UN in which funds were contributed by UK, Germany, France and others.“The Trust Fund has assisted us in the demarcation of the Nigerian-Cameroonian border”. (NAN)
