A shocking incident occurred in Abuja on Monday, August 26th, when a policeman, Inspector Collins Wilson, opened fire and killed three individuals in an attempt to cover up a theft committed by his girlfriend, Esther.
According to eyewitnesses, Esther was accused of stealing a phone from a tricycle driver, which led to a confrontation. Inspector Wilson arrived at the scene and, in a bid to protect his girlfriend, ordered her to stand behind him and opened fire at close range, killing two people instantly. A third victim, a motorcyclist who had brought Inspector Wilson to the scene, later succumbed to his injuries due to lack of medical attention.
Outraged residents apprehended Inspector Wilson and Esther, handing them over to the police. The victims’ bodies were brought to the police command on Tuesday, with residents demanding justice.
This incident raises concerns about police brutality and the misuse of power. The authorities have yet to release an official statement, and an investigation is pending.
