Members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in Keffi, a satellite town of Nasarawa State now moves around barbing forcefully any youth with hairs or haircut deemed “immoral and unkempt”.
This, a member of the group under condition of anonymity was an order from the ‘Power-That-Be in the area, as part of measures to inculcate moral values in the younger generation.
Some students of state owned university, NSUK, however kicked against this and appealed to the state government for intervention.
The group as n-Mirror gathered charged N500 only for every forceful cut.
Members moves around with whip (koboko) and their barbing tools to carry out the new order, which allegedly was from the Emirate Council.
“We want Governor Sule to intervene on this matter immediately. This is unacceptable”, Ahmed Adamu, a 300-level student of NSUK, appealed.
Adamu stated that aside being unhygienic and barbaric, it’s an abuse one’s right.
Another student simply identified as Grace, said the move is already sending out a bad signal about the town and its people.
She urged the government and relevant stakeholders to intervene on the matter before “it escalate into something else”.
