In a noteworthy endorsement, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Hassan Kukah, has expressed his support for President Bola Tinubu’s Tax Reform Bills, currently under consideration by the National Assembly. During an appearance on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, Bishop Kukah highlighted the bills’ potential to mitigate financial irresponsibility among Nigeria’s elite and public office holders.

Bishop Kukah emphasized that the proposed reforms could lead to more effective fiscal management and act as a remedy for the country’s chronic financial mismanagement. He believes that these changes are crucial for the nation’s economic growth and long-term stability.

“I am excited because this conversation offers an opportunity to address and end financial recklessness,” Bishop Kukah remarked. He pointed out the irony of Nigerians living in a resource-rich nation yet witnessing the mismanagement of these resources by the elite. The bishop expressed optimism that the reforms could alter this narrative, leading to more responsible and efficient resource management.

Kukah’s support for the Tax Reform Bills aligns with a broader call for fiscal responsibility and transparency in governance. He views these reforms as a starting point for a transformative journey towards building a more developed and financially prudent nation.
