Benue COVID-19 Drama: Tell Nigerian govt to let me go,’ Scandal breaks out over Benue COVID-19 index case (Video)

A scandal has broken out over the index coronavirus case in Benue State, Susan Okpe.

Okpe Sunday asked the Federal Government to allow her leave the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) isolation facility.

Okpe, who returned from the United Kingdom recently, has been receiving treatment at the isolation centre since March 28.

The coronavirus case in a video that has gone viral on social media asked the Nigerian government to let her leave the isolation facility.

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, confirmed Okpe as the state’s index coronavirus case at a press briefing in Makurdi in March.

The governor said her identity was released to the public to ease contact tracing and to allow people that had contact with her during the period to come forward for testing and isolation.

But Ortom’s approach has sparked controversy as many wondered whether he had breached medical ethics by revealing her identity. Watch the video below:
