The Executive Chairman, Okpokwu Local Government Council, Hon. Amina AUDU (JP) today, inaugurated the legislative council with a charge to the law makers to earnestly work together with her administration, for the growth and development of Okpokwu Local Government Area.
While congratulating the Councilors for emerging as representatives of their various wards, Hon. Amina urged them to ensure that peace and orderliness prevails in their respective constituencies at all times.
“I wish to urge the elected councilors in this council to earnestly work together with me so that together, we will deliver on the mandate reposed on us by the great people of Okpokwu Local Government Area. Also, I thank the youth, the women and the men who sacrificed their time and resources for my sake and for the sake of the Local Government Area. I would like to officially mention here that such sacrifices shall never be in vain”, she said.
Arising from the inaugural siting of the Legislative Council, Comr. Omaga N. Omaga, the Councilor representing Okpoga North Ward, was elected by a unanimous decision as the Leader of house. In his speech, Comr. Omaga Omaga reminded the Principal Officers and the other Councilors that in their new offices, so much will be expected from them by members of their Communities and as such, they must enact laws that are people oriented and will lead to a greater Okpokwu and Benue State in general.
“I am sincerely grateful to God Almighty and to my mentor, Distinguished Senator Abba Moro for making this dream a reality. I am grateful to our mother, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Amina Audu (JP), the Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Ojih Musa and every other party leader who worked tirelessly towards the success of today’s event. We’ll continue to be loyal to the party, while being optimistic that this dispensation will bring more dividends of democracy to our people”, Omaga said.
Similarly, Hon. Omale Joseph from Ojigo Ward, Hon. Peter Abu from Okonobo Ward, Hon. Ogwuche Michael of Okpoga Central Ward, Hon. Ode Mathew Agbo of Eke Ward, Hon. Godwin Ebiega from Ichama Ward 1 emerged Deputy Leader of the House, Majority Leader, Deputy Majority Leader, Chief Whip and Deputy Chief Whip respectively.
