Babajide Reveals Governor Ikpeazu of PDP Governor Will Decamp To APC Soon

by

It seems the last has not been heard about the tsunami of defection that has recently befell the opposition party Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the veteran journalist, Babajide Otitoju on Sunday, revealed that aside Zamfara Governor, Bello Matawalle who has reportedly concluded plans to join the ruling party, another Southeast PDP governor will also be defecting soon.

Bello’s reported defection brings the total number of PDP governors that have decamped to the ruling APC within the last two years to three, following the earlier exit of Ben Ayade of Cross Rivers state and David Umahi of Ebonyi state.

Consequently, while reacting to the development, Otitoju made further shocking revealation and said that Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state may likely be the next PDP Governor to switch to the APC camp.

The renowned journalist also confirmed the Zamfara state governor’s defection, and said that all things being equal, Matawalle will be formalizing his defection on Tuesday.

In his words, he said:

“Baring last minute change of mind which is highly unlikely this time around, Gov Bello Muhammad “Mattawale” will join the APC on Tuesday. Abia governor could be next after him.”

Consequently, diverse reactions have started to pour in over the gale of defection that is being witnessed in the PDP, with many political analysts saying it is a clear sign that the party may again loose out on it bid to reclaim the presidential seat in 2023.

Moreover, worthy of note is that after Matawalle’s exit from the PDP, the opposition party is now left with only 13 governors, while the APC now has 22 and APGA, 1.
