ASUU And The Nigerian University System By Professor AD Akpa Ahmadu Bello University Zaria

by

As NANS prepares to block all federal roads on February 28, 2022 in response to INSESSANT ASUU strike, let them note that if ASUU had remained insensitive to parents’ and students’ concerns, the children of the poor would NOT have been able to assess university education by now …

The ASUU has consistently resisted all government moves to have tuition fees reintroduced, which could have NOT BEEN LESS THAN N250,000 per session by now! Hostels are getting facelifts, new hostels are being built; lecture theatres are getting facelifts and new lecture theatres are being built; classroom and laboratory facilities and equipment are getting better all due to improved funding fought by ASSU for the universities!

In addition, the major financier of infrastructural developments currently in all Nigerian Public Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education is the TETFund. This is an establishment which was also fought for by ASUU.

The ASUU is by all means a serious stakeholder in the Nigerian university system, because they also have children training in Nigerian Universities!

SUPPORT THE ASUU! THE NIGERIAN UNIVERSITY SYSTEM CAN ONLY GET BETTER!!! A cow never knows the value of its tail till it is cut off.
