Few months into ascension to NAPTIP as head of the agency, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim was moved to National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons(NCFRMI),or another posting and major re-organisation in the Ministry of Humanitatian Affairs.
This was evidenced when he assumed duty few months ago,knowing the delicate nature of her new assignment,she embarked on aggressive repositioning of the agency to curb not only child abuses, trafficking and other molestations,but to address deliberate inequality among indigent children.
Mrs Ibrahim swung into action by carrying out a wholistic policy through visitation to both indigenous and foreign missions and partners to familiarize with the problems,prospects of the agency and how to approach them further.
She embarked on nationwide tour of all the offices of the agency and saw the need to create more offices to assist in the running the day to day affairs of the organization, particularly as it related to the welfare of children devoid of any form of abuses.
This along with a strong policy thrust to protect child Rights act and child trafficking was in the offing, before the need to move to another critical areas of responsibility and national service became desiring.
Her movement to Refugees commission as it is popularly called,is a familiar terrain,as her previous assignment and the current status deals directly with humanitatian activities.
Even though,the scope of the current assignment is more wider,no doubt,it is expected that Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim will bring to bear her wealth of experience both from the private and public sector garnered over the years, to the success of the new assignment.
She is already tested and trusted in the runnings and workings from her previous assignment,there is no doubt,she is expected to put more policies in place that will address both the welfare and well-being of the vulnerable in the society ravaged by circumstances and human errors.
As a Reformer’,she is expected to carry out reforms that will give a sense of belonging the the critically denied and Internally displaced by human crises and other circumstances.
Mrs Ibrahim will bring out a well thought out policy and programs, that will place the internally displaced Nigerians either by intra or inter ethnic crises and war like situations, like the operations of Boko Haram in the North East,kidnappers,bandits and cattle rustlers to their abodes secured.
The current trend of securtiy threats to lives and properties particularly the unfolding scenario in the South East had thrown many families as internally displaced Nigerians, even in their ancestral homes,this developement desired urgent attention.
The shelter,feeding and well-being of IDP’s Migrants and Refugees is significant to the sustenance of every society, therefore,more enabling environment will be created by the new helmswoman towards achieving the global feat and best practices world over.
His assumption of duty,no doubt will heat the ground running to ensure all hands is on deck towards achieving the intended objectives.
