Sequel to the kidnapping of SP Moses Egbede the DCO Afam Division Rivers State Command on the 21/7/2020 and the collection of Ransom from his family by the kidnappers on 30/7/2020 and their refusal to received further calls from his family and thereafter switched off the ransom negotiation phone by the Kidnappers, promted the family members to approach the FIB-Intelligence Response Team IRT to assist in the investigation revealed to OBSERVERS TIMES.
On 5/8/2020 Operatives of FIB-Intelligence Response Team IRT commenced investigation and with the aid of technical support from TIU Abuja the perpetrators were identified which led to the arrest of three of the gang members who confessed to have kidnapped and killed SP Moses Egbede.
*SUSPECTS;*
1: Philemon Barrifa ‘m’ 23yrs from Bomu town in Gokana LGA but resident in Agbeta camp in Ebubu town Eleme. The kidnapping of the police officer was planned in his house and executed by himself and other gang members he got the sum of #120,000 as his own share of the ransom collected. He further confessed that the Officer was killed after the collection of Ransom because during the kidnap he dragged with them and pull down the face mask of two of their gang members and saw their faces and they were familiar faces so there is no way they could let him go so he was beaten to death.
2: Okechukwu Emmanuel aka Bike boy ‘m’ 32yrs from Obingwa LGA of Abia state but resident in high tension road, Komkom Oyigbo. He is a member of the gang who monitor the movement of Police men and other security agents during their kidnapping operations he usually transport their victims to their camp with his motorcycle and also buy food and water for the victim. He got #100,000 as his own share.
3:Barrisitom Gbara m 33yrs from Gokana but resident in Agbeta camp in Ebubu town Eleme. He provides the live catridges used for the kidnapping of the police officer to the gang members through Philemon Barrifa aka OG.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects for now is the ransom negotiation phone.
Suspects are cooperating with the operatives to track down other members of the gang now at large especially the gang leader who also brought the two AK47 used for the kidnapping.
