Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, personally contacted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to provide an update on his health, sources at Defence Headquarters have revealed.
Despite rumors suggesting otherwise, Lagbaja is alive and on the path to recovery.
President Tinubu expressed relief upon hearing directly from Lagbaja and shared his prayers for a speedy recovery. A source at DHQ disclosed that Lagbaja spoke with the president in a positive manner, showing good spirits.
Contrary to fake news circulating on social media, the Nigerian Army Headquarters confirmed that Lagbaja is recuperating well. Rumors sparked by a social media post claiming his death have been debunked.
Director of Army Public Relations, Maj. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, stated that Lagbaja had traveled abroad for medical checkups and is expected to return to duty as soon as he is fit. In his absence, Maj. Gen. Kevin Aligbe, Commander of Training and Doctrine Command, has been appointed to lead in the interim.
