APC Suspends Former Kwara Publicity Secretary Tajudeen Aro for Labeling His Own Party APC As A Party of Lie and `Deceit’

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has suspended its former Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Tajudeen Aro, following allegations that he accused the party of deception and mishandling of its internal elections. Aro, a chairmanship aspirant for Offa Local Government Area, criticized the APC’s local government primary elections, calling the process a “shambles” and accusing the electoral committee of undermining the trust of party members.

In a recent statement, Aro accused the state chapter of the APC of violating its constitution and engaging in what he described as “anti-party behavior.” He expressed frustration with the party’s handling of the primaries, alleging that the selection of candidates was undemocratic and manipulated by influential members. He further claimed that certain government officials were handpicking councillors in local wards, leading to dissatisfaction among party members.

Aro also recalled that he had previously raised concerns about the party’s direction in 2021 but received no response from the state governor. He revealed that he was offered N5 million to withdraw from the chairmanship race, a move he said exemplified the party’s lack of sincerity.

In response to his accusations, the APC in Ojomu North North West Ward, Offa, suspended Aro, accusing him of anti-party activities and attempting to create division within the party. A letter signed by the ward’s leadership stated that Aro’s actions were in direct violation of party discipline and that his membership was suspended with immediate effect.
