The National Vice Chairman, North west of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC(, Salihu Moh. Lukman may have been surrendered in his boast to continue with he prosecution of the party’s national Chairman, Senator Adamu Abdulahi and National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore over alleged breach of the APC constitution and inability to account for the funds raised by the party during sale of nomination forms ahead of the 2023 elections.
Lukman had after several failed attempts to get the party leaders to convene a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to discuss of the raised issued, issued a one week ultimatum to them, leading to his dragging them to court following the expiration of the ultimatum without response.
The internal crisis, which triggered the summoning of an emergency meeting of the APC National Working Committee (NWC) on Wednesday, led to the setting up of a five man committee by the NWC to inter face of Lukman.
It was however gathered that prio to the NWC meeting, some members of the committee, had planned to suspend and subsequently expel the North west vice chairman at the meeting.
The plot was based on a leaked memo by the National Legal Adviser, Ahmad El-Marzuq, who accused Lukman of refusal to follow and exhaust all internal crisis resolution mechanism within the party before seeking legal action against the leaders.
Briefing journalist at the end of the stormy NWC meeting on Wednesday, North-East, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Saliu Mustapha, said that the National Vice Chairman, North-West, Salihu Lukman has agreed to withdraw his case against the National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, over their alleged refusal to convene meetings of relevant party organs.
Mustapha said Lukman has also agreed to write an apology letter to the NWC and also withdraw his case in court.
He said: “We are able to reach a resolution that this suit is going to be withdrawn unconditionally and that he has rendered his or his apology for any seeming embarrassment that this suit may have caused.”
The party chieftain stressed that parties are not run on the pages of newspapers or the screens of television, but rather things are done administratively.
Also speaking on the matter, APC spokesman, Felix Morka, said: “Amongst all of the issues discussed at the meeting, we looked at some internal and domestic housekeeping matters with a colleague (Lukman) who has expressed his concerns about something he believes the party should be doing.
“We deliberated completely about it. I am happy to report as the Chairman just indicated. The party stands completely united behind the leadership of His Excellency, the National Chairman of our party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu. And we are all standing together. Our colleague who has concern, is being looked into. And I think in due course, we will have very specific conclusions of those discussions. We are good on this question.”
