APC crisis: Ajimobi Arrives Abuja as Plot to announce acting chairman thickens

The removal of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by a pronouncement of the Federal High Court has thrown up a leadership challenge in the party.

The former Oyo State governor, Senator Isiaka Ajimobi, whose approval as Deputy National Chairman was announced today (Wednesday) may emerge as acting chairman.
By the provision of Article 14.2 of the APC Constitution 2010( as amended) the Deputy National Chairman, South should assume the exalted office of Chairman of the party in an acting capacity.
It reads in part: “Assist the national chairman in the discharge of his duties; Perform such functions as may be assigned to him from time to time by the National Working Committee; Shall act as the national chairman in the absence of the national chairman from his Zone.”
A statement issued by Lanre Isa-Onilu, Wednesday night, disclosed that a meeting of the national working committee held on January 14, 2020, reached a decision to ratify the immediate past Oyo State governor as new deputy national chairman, South.
There are, however, other forces in the party who may resist the new realities.
