A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kano State, Abdulmajid Danbilki Kwammanda, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for sacking the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Sabo Nanono, over alleged poor performance.
Mr Nanono and Power Minister Sale Mamman were relieved of their appointment on Wednesday during the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja.
Addressing journalists in Kano on Friday, Mr Kwammanda, who is a staunch supporter of Mr Buhari, also called on the president to sack minister of Defence, Salihi Magashi.
Mr Kwamanda said the President has vindicated him by the recent sack, adding that from the onset, he had opposed the appointment of both Messrs Nanono and Magashi as the duo allegedly lacked the wherewithal to deliver in their respective ministries.
While wondering about the criteria Mr Buhari followed in appointing the duo, Mr Kwamanda called on the President to immediately set up a committee to investigate Mr Nanono.
The APC chieftain also called on the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, to investigate the sacked minister.
“I don’t know which criteria Buhari followed to appoint Nanono and Magashi. I knew these people would fail. I saw this sack coming.
Buhari has vindicated me because I said it from the day he appointed them that they are going to fail because of their bad attitudes,” Mr Kwamanda said.
On his call to sack Mr Magashi, the APC chieftain said the minister has failed to arrest the rising security challenges in the country, especially in the Northern part of the country.
According to him, Mr Buhari is doing his best to check the security challenges of the country but Mr Magashi as a minister is not performing his task.
Buhari is doing his best to arrest the security challenges but as a minister, Magashi is doing nothing. So, I call on Buhari to immediately sack him and replace him with a better candidate.
“We have better candidates from Kano State to replace both Nanono and Magashi,” he appealed.
