Armed men suspected to be bandits have killed 20 persons at the Guma area of Benue State at the early hours of Monday morning, a community where Mr. Samuel Ortom, the Governors comes from, West Africa Reporters (WAR) has learned.

Community residents who spoke to WAR said the armed men stormed the area killing 20 persons and leaving many wounded.

Mr. Adama, a witness while speaking to WAR, accused Mr. Samuel Ortom, of not doing enough to protect his people, but rather interested in stealing monies meant to provide security for the people.

Another witness, Alice Uba, while narrating the incident, told WAR that farmers and residents have since deserted different communities in Guma while the areas have been taken over by the Fulani herdsmen.

“We are at the mercy of God, our farms have been taken over by the Fulani herdsmen and the government is not doing anything to help us,” Uba said.

Benue state in the last five years has had many reported cases of Fulani and farmers clashes with residents in the rural areas been the worse hit.
